The New Profimat 30 – The Next Generation From Weinig.
The Profimat 30 is the first of two new moulders to be launched by Weinig this year. The compact moulder, which has been designed for small to medium-sized businesses with a diverse product range, benefits from a small footprint and a small price tag to match.
For a machine costing just under £30,000, the new Profimat 30 moulder has an impressive list of credentials, taking many of its innovative features from larger, high-performance moulders in the Weinig portfolio and integrating them into a very flexible and powerful entry level moulder.
Engineered to the same exacting standards expected of Weinig, the Profimat 30 is constructed on a vibration-absorbing cast iron frame and has a base footprint of just 1.5 x 1.3 metres, allowing it to fit easily into the most challenging of workshops.
Under the hood, the Profimat 30 comes with four or five spindles and a choice of two motor packages – a standard package for most applications and an upgraded option when extra grunt is really needed. It also features a standard working height of 8-120mm and a standard working width of 13-230mm, allowing smaller workshops to take on a wide variety of moulding jobs. What is even more remarkable for a moulder of this size, is its optional ability to work to widths of 260mm – the width of a stair tread and, in many cases, a window board. It’s a feature very few machines of this size and this price range can match.
The Profimat 30 also boasts an infinitely variable feed from 6 to 15m/min and features a clever 5mm thick lateral guiding fence that moves with the left spindle to keep the product against the fence – a process that is usually a manual operation on most entry level moulders.
Engineered with low-maintenance components for exceptional reliability and low running costs, the Profimat 30 features a feed system with three separate motors as the most effective means of power transmission in a small space. The system has a minimum of moving parts meaning quick and easy maintenance when required. On the left spindle there is an ingenious and a fully detachable dust extraction hood that leaves the cutter block completely accessible and easy to work around when changing tools, cleaning and servicing the machine. The Profimat 30 also offers some impressive energy saving features, like frequency converters to start and stop the spindle drives and reduce power peaks, single button starting and stopping of motors to minimize current demand and a cleverly designed dust extraction system that requires 20% less energy than comparable machines.
When it comes to the machine’s operation, three different levels are available. As standard, the Profimat 30 comes equipped with mechanical digital readouts for axial and radial position of the spindles. For very little additional cost, a customer can specify Weinig’s Digi-Set digital read-outs which directly indicate the material width and thickness.
The most comfortable option is the Machine Control Package which combines CNC positioning for width and thickness, electronic digital displays and a 10.1” touch screen with Weinig’s Memory Plus system for storing profile data. This level of technology is the same as Weinig offer on machines costing 10 times what the Profimat 30 does!
